Chemical Peel
A chemical peel is such a great way to refresh the skin and target specific concerns in one go. I offer a range of peels tailored to what your skin actually needs on the day - whether that’s acne, sensitivity, rosaceaand signs of ageing. We’ll decide together during your consultation or appointment. Every peel also includes 20 minutes of Dermalux LED to calm the skin and give your results an extra boost.
HOW IT WORKS
The key ingredients in this peel are..
Mandelic Acid 25% - Collagen rebuilder, targets hyper pigmentation, acne & oil control.
Lactic Acid 5% - Skin lightener & hydrator, exfoliating and anti-ageing.
Resorcinol 5% - Keratolytic agent for scars, acne and problematic skin.
Hyaluronic Acid 5% - HylaFuse superior hydration and penetration.
Pyruvic Acid 2% - Antioxidant and cell repair, also good for skin lightening.
Kojic Acid 2% - Tyrosinase inhibitor ideal against uneven tone or pigmentation.
Retinaldehyde <1% - Collagen rebuilder, powerful anti wrinkle and acne revision.
Ferulic Acid 1% - High potent antioxidant ideal against uneven tone or pigmentation.
Arbutin 5% - Tyrosinase inhibitor ideal against uneven tone or pigmentation.
Copper Peptides <1% - Healing and collagen building.
Dimethyl Isosorbide <1% - Penetration enhancer.
Niacinamide 5% - Promotes fibroblast proliferation, blood circulation and skin repair.
THE PROCEDURE
The peel liquid is applied to cleansed skin or directly after a micro needling session using a special brush.
The solution sits on the skin for 2-3 minutes and is then neutralised in one of two ways..
It can either be wiped over with a sterile cold wet gauze and covered with a serum suited to your needs , or a highly recommended method is the application of the DP Dermaceuticals 3D Sculptured Mask, which is an innovative cloth mask infused with skin soothing and result enhancing ingredients including the hydrating hyaluronic acid based Hylafuse serum, healing copper peptides, zinc and vitamin B5. This is applied and left on for 10 minutes which both neutralises and infused the skin with healing ingredients which accelerates healing and enhances the results even more.
AFTERCARE
If you are going to be exposed to daylight after this treatment make sure you wear an SPF 30+. This can be applied by myself in clinic before you leave but you must reapply and keep as shaded as possible for the rest of the day.
Avoid washing the face for 12-24 hours to allow optimal effectiveness.
Avoid sports, hot baths or showers for the next 48 hours.
Avoid wearing makeup unless it's a breathable CC cream for 12 hours.
It is highly advisable you think about purchasing suitable aftercare products if you don't already use products I am satisfied won't impede the healing or results.
Book in for a follow up appointment 10-14 days after. This treatment can be carried out every 14 days so if it's part of a course this will double up as a review and treatment.
HOW DOES IT FEEL DURING AND AFTER?
During the treatment while the peel solution is on the skin, you can expect to feel a tingling. To the practitioner, you should also present a pinkish colour. This can vary from person to person with different levels of toleration but this will be managed accordingly.
If the solution is being applied after a micro needling session, expect the tingle/sting to be more intense than solely on its own as it's being applied to open skin essentially, down the micro channels. These close up after a few minutes.
Once the skin has been neutralised the skin should start to feel normal again and not as tingly. As you go through the rest of the day just expect it to feel fresh and alive and maybe a tiny bit tingly.
