HOW IT WORKS
Alkaline wash hair removal is a quick, easy hair removal method. It's prepared by Gemma into a paste but does not work in the same was as shop bought hair removal creams. Although it is painless, it is still a specialised treatment that must be performed with skill and caution due to the nature of the powerful alkaline wash.
It works by dissolving hair and dead skin cells, so doubles up as a skin rejuvenating treatment by improving the appearance and texture of skin.
While dissolving the hair, it also travels down the hair follicle due to the special technique carried out and slowly kills off the root. Therefore, permanent hair removal can be achieved over time, just like other permanent hair removal methods.
Unlike other hair removal methods, this treatment is able to work well on fine downy hair, and is especially recommended for downy hair. Other methods such as lasers, cannot attack the hair follicle as the laser has no guidance, so over the years this has been the hardest type of hair to permanently remove permanently.
THE PROCEDURE
This treatment takes 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on the area treated.
Not suitable for thick, stubbly hairs.
Patch test needed at least 48 hours before treatment.
AFTERCARE
Aftercare for this treatment is extremely important and without the agreement that the aftercare products must be purchased as part of it, unfortunately the treatment won't be able to be carried out. These are special formulas that you cannot get anything similar to in the shops, but once purchased they will last you throughout your course. SPF is also un-negotiable.
HOW DOES IT FEEL DURING AND AFTER?
The treatment itself is completely pain free, although some people may feel a slight tingle while the alkaline wash is on.
Afterwards, again everyone is different. Whilst the hair is definitely going to be dissolved, everyone reacts differently skin-wise. Most feel or see nothing, some may have a slight tingle or a little redness. This is completely normal and will subside later that day or the next day.
WHAT RESULTS CAN I EXPECT?
Hair is dissolved straight away, that is pretty much a given, and if a few don't, they will probably fall out on the way home. Skin will also feel softer as the dead skin cells too, dissolve.
After the first treatment the hair will grow back the same, but after the second, third onwards the growth will become less as the follicle slowly dies off. How many sessions that takes is different for everyone, but eventually it will become permanent.
