Microneedling
Microneedling is one of my favourite treatments for giving the skin a proper refresh. Using a fine-needled device, I gently stimulate your skin to produce more collagen, elastin and fresh new skin cells, leaving it looking firmer, smoother, and with that gorgeous post-facial glow. It’s also brilliant for softening old scars and smoothing out any lines or uneven texture. I finish the treatment with 20 minutes under the Dermalux LED to calm the skin and really boost your results.

HOW IT WORKS
The pen shaped device is engineered with micro needles which create thousands of micro channels into the skin at high speed. The high speed makes it much more comfortable and less painful than basic derma rolling, it also creates far more micro channels resulting in far superior, faster results.

THE PROCEDURE
A sterile, disposable micro needle tip is used for each client and disposed of in medical sharps waste after use. The client is cleansed and the skin is disinfected before the micro needling begins.
Application of a multi molecular hyaluronic acid serum is applied all over before the treatment begins.
The multi molecular hyaluronic acid serum means the different size molecules reach the skin at different depths, benefitting from deep penetration as well as surface hydration. This is also reapplied as the device glides over the skin and pushes the product into the skin for extra hydration.
The microneedling device is altered to different needle depths depending on the client's needs and area of the face and it is adjusted as so.
*I include 20 minutes of Dermalux LED therapy at the end of this treatment to enhance results and soothe the skin*
AFTERCARE
Just like any invasive treatment, the use of SPF it vital as the skin's structure has been temporarily compromised in order for advanced healing to begin. This leaves it more exposed to UV rays. SPF will protect from further damage and promote optimum healing. Even with the use of SPF, direct sun exposure should also be avoided for 2 weeks after treatment.
Avoid any active ingredients such as exfoliating acids and retinol or heavily fragranced skincare for 48 hours post treatment. Hydrating, calming products are recommended. Ideally no makeup for 24 hours and when you do apply makeup, use clean brushes. A clean pillowcase is also necessary the night of the treatment.
Avoid going to the gym, swimming or anything that causes excessive heat or sweat for 48 hours after treatment.

HOW DOES IT FEEL DURING AND AFTER?
During the treatment, you will feel a mild vibration and a slight sensation from the micro needles but because the speed of which it goes, it is generally fairly pain-free, however it can vary from person to person. It also varies depending on the area being treated i.e forehead vs cheeks. Also with scar tissue, there will be less feeling for the first couple of treatments as there are no nerve receptors present, but sensation will increase as the new skin develops over a few treatments.
Afterwards expect a rosey glow to the skin, this reduces significantly within 24 hours. Downtime for this treatment is minimal, especially with the correct aftercare.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED AND HOW OFTEN?
A course of 6 treatments is recommended for complete skin revision and optimal results. Results accumulate with each treatment and the more you have the more results you will see. Maintenance is recommended every 3 months thereafter to combat the natural decline of collagen due to every day factors like UV rays, stress, pollution etc.
4 weeks is the minimum needed in between treatments during the initial course if a course is what you start off with. This is due to the natural cycle of the skin which is typically 28 days long.
